Peetu TTR World Champ

After a bit of speculation, TTR has confirmed that it’s impossible for anyone to catch Peetu’s points lead and he is the TTR World Champ. With an impressive 2011 season that included wins at the Burton European Open (pipe, he got 2nd in slope), and Air & Style Munich, and podiums at pretty much every other event, Peetu has not only claimed the title for the third year in a row, but also become the first one to ever win three TTR titles in a row.

Greg and Spencer Shine at Dew

Greg Bretz and Spencer O'Brien made sure to wrap up the Winter Dew Tour the best way they know how - on the podium.

For his part, Greg dominated the men's snowboard Superpipe, landing a backside 540, frontside double cork 1080, Cab 1080 double cork, frontside 900, backside 900 and frontside 1080 - the back-to-back doubles were his first.

Iouri Podladtchikov Takes TTR #1 World Ranking

Iouri Podladtchikov (trying saying that 10 times fast) moves to the #1 spot of the TTR World Rankings despite third place finish at Burton European Open.

It was Finnish halfpipe machine, Peetu Piiroinen, who took down the win for the second year in a row, which improved his position in the World Rankings to World No. 3.

Splitboarding takes the Mountain

So you have yet to hear of splitboarding, its ok. Class is officially in session. Grab an open desk and learn all about the fast-growing sport of splitboarding. Simply put, a splitboard is a snowboard that can be "split" down the middle into two parts. The two parts are used like skis with climbing skins to ascend slopes the same way alpine touring or telemark skis are used. The two halves can then be connected to form a regular snowboard for descent. This comes as a huge benefit for those backcountry boarders.

In case you missed it (like I did), last night at the Grammy Award Ceremony Eminem and Dr. Dre preformed Dr. Dre's  second lead single, off his third and final album DETOX, titled "I Need a Doctor". The song is a tribute 

The song contains two verses of Eminem thanking his mentor for believing in him in the beginning, and now returning the favor.

One of today’s best young surfers showed a few of the veterans how it’s done at a big event on the North Shore of Oahu yesterday. 

18-year old John John Florence put on an amazing show for the last day of the2011 Volcom Pipe Pro.  The North Shore prodigy was constantly finding big deep tubes at his home break from day one of theASP 5-Star competition until he reached the finals.

Burton Snowboards Celebrates the Opening of New R&D Facility in VA

Today, over 300 Vermont-based employees of Burton Snowboards, members of Burton’s pro team, media and friends gathered at the company’s new state-of-the-art prototype facility to officially open and dedicate the space to the late snowboard icon Craig Kelly. 

By far the most sophisticated R&D facility Burton has ever built, the new space is simply called ‘Craig’s’ and is located right next door to Burton’s global headquarters in Vermont. Craig’s is where Burton can take rider feedback, build a prototype with homegrown custom machinery and then take it on snow the very next day.

The Billabong Air & Style is a 6 star stadium straight jump event of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour.

The world’s best riders will compete in a head-to-head competition in order to write another chapter of snowboarding history in front of 14.000 fans. Besides the outstanding shredding level, killer bands will rock the place  in between the knockout rounds and after the grand finale.
